What is IV Vitamin Therapy?

Nutrient Intravenous (IV) Therapy is a safe and effective at delivering nutrients that can be quickly absorbed in the body. These formulations include high quality vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants.

The risks of IV Nutrient Therpay include and are not limited to bruising at insertion sites, mild discomfort, local vein inflammation at site of IV placement, severe allergic reactions, nausea, blood pressure and blood sugar changes.

What can I do to prepare for the IV?

Come hydrated, eat well before you have an IV (if you forgot to eat, we always have snacks available 🙂  We have you sign a form to consent to treatment and to give us an idea of how you generally tolerate IVs (if any) in the past and to tell us about your last meal in case you didn’t eat :).

The are generally a recommendation made by your doctor for your condition. Your doctor is involved in deciding the best IV for you and you have had to have some basic lab testing done and established as a patient in order to receive an IV treatment.

Does IV therapy hurt?

We take pride in our staff and there training and techniques used in performing IV therapy. Most of the time, patients state they don’t even feel it, however, it may feel like pinch that lasts for a second. We adjust the IV therapy based on the patients needs and the overall goal is that is comfortable and extremely well tolerated. Once the IV treatment is completed, we will discard the tubing and catheter and wrap the site with a compression bandage. You can wear this bandage up to 10 minutes after the procedure if needed. 

What is the duration of treatment?

Generally, we recommend that IV Nutrient Therapy take 30-60 minutes. This is called forced relaxation time for you 🙂 

How will I feel after an IV?

Most patients enjoy IV Nutrient therapy because it helps them feel energized, recovered, hydrated, and feel well again. Sometimes, people notice urine color changes due to the water-soluble vitamins that can be excreted after the infusion. 

How do I choose an IV?

If you are an established patient, you can book your IV appointment online, in your patient portal or by calling the office directed. You can request to speak to your doctor or send your doctor a message in the patient portal to see if any nutrient IV is recommended. Your IV will be prepared upon your arrival of the appointment.

How frequently can I receive an IV treatment?

Typically, this decision is made between you and your doctor and this depends on the outcome of your therapy. Generally, this can be done as frequently as once a week to once a month.
