Thyroid Nodules

Thyroid nodules are small lumps that can form in your thyroid which is a butterfly-shaped gland at the base of your neck just above your collarbone. The thyroid is an important part of your body's endocrine system and produces hormones that regulate your metabolism which is how your body uses energy.
Most thyroid nodules are not serious and don't cause symptoms. In fact, you might not even know you have one unless a doctor discovers it during a routine checkup or an imaging test that you're having for another reason. There are different types of thyroid nodules:
