Immune-Boosting Cold & Flu Tea Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise pods
4-5 whole cloves
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
1-inch piece of fresh turmeric, sliced
Juice of 1 lemon
1 dried lime (optional: use both darker and lighter varieties for a balance of bitter and sour flavors)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon fennel seeds or 1/4 teaspoon fennel powder
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1-2 teaspoons manuka honey (adjust to taste)
Ingredients

Directions:

  • Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Slice the ginger and turmeric.
    • Juice the lemon and set aside.
  • Boil the Tea:
    • In a medium-sized pot, bring 6 cups of water to a boil.
    • Add cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves, ginger, turmeric, dried lime, cayenne pepper, fennel, and cardamom.
  • Simmer and Steep:
    • Reduce the heat to a simmer and let the ingredients simmer for 10-15 minutes.
    • Turn off the heat and let the tea steep for another 10 minutes to deepen the flavors.
  • Strain the Tea:
    • Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the tea into cups or a teapot, removing the solids.
  • Add Lemon and Honey:
    • Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice and manuka honey just before serving.
  • Serve Warm:
    • Enjoy immediately for maximum soothing and health benefits.
